Who we are

This website is operated by BD Advocacy, a chamber of advocates enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council, at 11B, 75-76 Kakrail, Dhaka 1000, Bangladesh. For any privacy question, email help@bdadvocacy.com.

Professional confidentiality

Communications between you and your advocate for the purpose of legal advice are confidential and protected by professional privilege under the Evidence Act 1872 and the professional conduct rules that bind advocates. We treat what you tell us in a first call or enquiry as confidential, whether or not you go on to instruct us.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: your name, telephone number, email address, the type of matter and the short description you choose to give us through the enquiry form, email, phone or WhatsApp.
  • Clients: identity documents, contact details, documents about your matter, and billing records, once you instruct us.
  • Website use: standard technical information our hosting server records, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.

Please do not send original documents or sensitive details through the enquiry form before we have confirmed that we can act for you and have no conflict of interest.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation.
  • To check for conflicts of interest before accepting a matter.
  • To advise and represent you, including filing documents with courts, tribunals and government offices.
  • To keep records, issue invoices and meet our legal and professional obligations.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only as far as your matter requires: courts, tribunals, registries and government offices; opposing parties or their advocates where the proceedings require; experts, surveyors or co-counsel you agree to; and service providers that host our website and email, who may process data outside Bangladesh. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiry details that do not lead to an engagement are kept only as long as needed to respond and to record conflict checks. Client files are kept for as long as the matter lasts and afterwards for the period our professional and legal obligations require.

Security

We limit access to files to the advocates and staff working on your matter and use reasonable technical and physical safeguards. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please choose what you send by email or messaging apps with care.

Your choices

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete information we no longer need, subject to our legal and professional record-keeping duties. We will respond in line with applicable Bangladesh data protection law, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2026 as it is brought into force.
