BDAdvocacy is a chamber of advocates based in Kakrail, Dhaka. Founded by Barrister Mohammad Rasel in 2009, the chamber now comprises 5 advocates, 4 consultants and 3 support staff.
Every advocate at BDAdvocacy is enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council. Our team includes advocates entitled to appear before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, VAT and Customs Tribunals, Administrative Tribunals and the Labour Court. Each advocate’s profile sets out their enrolment year, court entitlement and professional qualifications.
We deliberately take on a limited number of matters at a time. This allows the advocate you meet at the first consultation to remain directly involved in handling your matter. It also means we sometimes decline work that we would otherwise be able to accept.

We assess before we advise
We read the papers and, where the matter concerns land or a company, check the record. Then we tell you what the position looks like and what the realistic options are — including when a claim is not worth running, or when the cost is likely to outrun what you could recover.
You decide
If you want to go ahead, we set out the scope in writing, explain how fees are calculated and confirm which advocate is responsible for your file. Nothing begins until you have agreed the terms.

Some things will not wait
An arrest, a bail application, a deadline for an injunction, or a hearing where non-appearance would cost you the case. Call 01772137777
If someone has been detained, write down the police station, the time of arrest, and the case or GD number before you call. Having those three things to hand saves an hour at the other end.

Most of it can be handled without you flying home
We act for Bangladeshis abroad in property and inheritance matters, in family and status matters, and in cases already running before the Bangladesh courts. A properly executed power of attorney lets us act on your behalf, and we take instructions by video call across time zones.

Confidentiality
What you tell us stays between you and the chamber. That applies from the first phone call, whether or not you go on to instruct us.
A written scope
Before work begins you receive the scope of the matter, the basis on which fees are calculated, and the name of the advocate responsible for it.
A named advocate
You deal with the same advocate throughout. If the file has to be handed over, you are told who is taking it and why.
A straight assessment
If a claim is weak, or the likely cost would outrun what you could recover, we say so at the assessment stage rather than after you have committed.
