Common questions
What am I owed when my job ends?
It depends on how the job ended and how long you worked. Unpaid wages and earned leave are always due, and termination or retirement can add notice pay, compensation or gratuity under the Labour Act and your contract. Our guide explains each case.
How long do I have to bring a labour claim?
The time limits are short. Under the Labour Act's grievance procedure, the written grievance must reach the employer within 30 days, and the Labour Court stage has its own short deadline. Speak to a lawyer as soon as the job ends.
How do I complain to the consumer rights directorate?
File a written or online complaint with the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection within 30 days of the problem, with the receipt and evidence. If a fine is imposed, the complainant can receive 25 percent of it.
Can a consumer get compensation?
The directorate can fine the seller, but full compensation for your loss usually needs a civil claim. We advise which route fits the amount and the evidence.
My bank will not fix a wrong charge. What next?
Complain to the bank in writing first and keep the reference. If it does not resolve the problem, complain to Bangladesh Bank, which handles customer complaints against banks.
Owed money by an employer or a seller?
The deadlines are short. Call or WhatsApp 01772137777; we reply within 24 hours. A written assessment costs nothing.
