Careers at the Chamber
We take a small number of interns and junior advocates who want to learn court practice properly. The work is demanding and hands-on, under the supervision of senior advocates.
Internship
Internships are open to law students in the later years of an LLB or LLM, and to recent law graduates, including those preparing for the Bar Council enrolment examination. Placements are arranged according to the chamber’s capacity, and the length is agreed at the start.
Junior advocates
We consider applications from advocates enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council, and from candidates who have completed their pupillage requirements and are awaiting enrolment, who want to build a practice in the District Courts and the High Court Division.
What we look for
- Clear, careful writing in both Bangla and English
- Accuracy with facts, dates and documents
- Willingness to attend court regularly and to work to deadlines
- Discretion with client information and respect for the Bar Council’s professional rules
- Interest in one or more of our areas: family, inheritance, land and property, criminal, civil or writ work
What trainees do
Trainees work on live files under supervision. Typical work includes:
- Drafting plaints, written statements, petitions, applications, legal notices and deeds
- Attending the District Courts, Tribunals and the High Court Division with senior advocates
- Legal research on statutes, rules and reported decisions, and preparing case notes
- Translating and summarising documents between Bangla and English
- Organising case files, cause lists and hearing dates, and meeting clients with a senior present

We will contact shortlisted applicants for an interview; we may not be able to reply to every application.
