No lawyer–client relationship

Reading this website, calling the chamber, sending an enquiry or messaging us does not create a lawyer–client relationship. That relationship begins only when we have confirmed in writing that we can act for you, completed a conflict check, and agreed the scope of work and the basis of fees.

No guarantee of outcome

Every matter depends on its facts, the evidence and the decision of the court or authority. Nothing on this website is a promise or prediction of any result.

Consultations and fees

Written assessment. A preliminary written assessment requested by email, WhatsApp or the enquiry form is given without charge. It states whether the chamber can act, the realistic options, the advocate who would be responsible and the basis on which fees would be calculated. It is a preliminary view on the facts supplied, not a formal legal opinion, and it does not include reviewing, searching or verifying documents. It does not create a lawyer–client relationship.

Consultation. A video or telephone consultation lasts up to 30 minutes and costs Tk 10,000 (or the equivalent in USD or GBP for clients abroad), payable in advance at booking. The slot is confirmed once payment is received. It may be rescheduled without charge on at least 24 hours’ notice; a consultation missed or cancelled with less notice is not refunded. If the chamber has to cancel, the fee is refunded in full or the consultation rescheduled, at your choice. The fee is credited in full against the engagement fee if you instruct the chamber on the same matter within 30 days.

Engagement. Court work, drafting and documentation, document searches and verification are undertaken only on a written quotation. Work begins when the engagement letter is signed and 50% of the quoted fee is received; the balance is payable as set out in the engagement letter. Court fees, stamp duty, government fees and out-of-pocket expenses are charged at cost unless the quotation says otherwise.

Professional conduct

BD Advocacy’s advocates are enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council and bound by the Canons of Professional Conduct and Etiquette. This website provides information about the chamber, its advocates’ qualifications and Bangladesh law. It is not intended to solicit professional work.

Use of this website

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, BD Advocacy is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the general information on this website without taking specific legal advice.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and the courts at Dhaka have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
