Corporate, Tax, VAT & Customs
This is the chamber’s lead practice and the Head of Chamber’s own work. We form and run companies in Bangladesh, keep them compliant with RJSC and the NBR, advise on income tax, VAT and customs, and argue the appeals when a demand or order goes wrong. Foreign investors and their Bangladeshi partners are advised on entry, approvals and repatriation from the first meeting.
Is this your situation?

Annual returns and AGM, director and share changes, registered-office and name changes, board minutes and the statutory registers RJSC expects.
See how we help →A tax, VAT or customs demand has arrived
Notices, audits, assessments and demands from the NBR, VAT commissionerates and customs houses, and the appeals that follow, where deadlines are short.
See how we help →Plan tax before a transaction
Corporate tax, withholding, VAT treatment and customs classification worked out before a contract, an import or a restructuring, not after.
See how we help →Invest in Bangladesh from abroad
Entry route, 100% foreign ownership where the law allows, Invest Bangladesh registration, Bangladesh Bank approvals and work permits for expatriate staff.
See how we help →Bring money in, take profits out
Share money, foreign loans, dividends and sale proceeds moved through authorised dealer banks under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act and the GFET.
See how we help →Three sections, one practice
Corporate, tax and investment work overlaps constantly: a share transfer raises stamp duty and capital-gains questions, an import raises customs and VAT, a foreign shareholder raises Bangladesh Bank reporting. The practice is organised in three sections so that you can find the right page quickly, but the same advocates work across all three and one named advocate holds your file.

Common questions
Does the chamber do the routine filings as well as the advice?
Yes. Routine formation and compliance filings are run through our sister desk LegalDesk.bd on a fixed timetable and fee schedule; advice, structuring, notices, demands and appeals are handled by the chamber’s advocates. One file, one responsible advocate, whichever side the work falls on.
How quickly must we act on a tax, VAT or customs order?
Immediately. Appeal periods run from the date of the order, some are measured in weeks, and some appeals require a deposit before they are admitted. Send the order the day it arrives.
Can a foreign investor own 100% of a Bangladeshi company?
In most sectors, yes. A few sectors are reserved or need sector approval. We confirm the position for your sector before the name clearance is filed.
Can this work be done without coming to Dhaka?
Almost all of it. Instructions by video, signatures by power of attorney or apostille, and a written update after each step. Some bank account openings need a visit, which we schedule.
Who will handle my matter?
Corporate, tax and customs work is led by Barrister Mohammad Rasel, Head of Chamber, whose own practice is this area, with the chamber’s advocates and tax practitioners.
A corporate, tax or investment question?
Send a short summary and the key documents. We reply within 24 hours and say whether we can act, who would, and on what terms. A written assessment costs nothing.
